The Facts
(stuff about me you might want to know)
General Information
| Physical Appearance | Male, 5'8" tall (slightly below average), 200 lbs (give or take, I've fluctuated between 155 and 218 in the past 5 years), brown hair, green eyes. At least that's what it says on my driver's license. I think we can trust it. |
| Birth date | 3/14/1980. I'm a Pieces and a Monkey, depending on what Zodiac floats your boat. |
| Sexual Preference | Officially, I'm heterosexual. Though, you could technically describe me as asexual. Interpret that as you will.... |
| Religion | I'm a baptized and confirmed Lutheran (E.L.C.A.). I still consider myself a Christian, but I've moved away from the more organized aspects of the religion. Someday when I'm raising a family, I may return to going to church. For now, I'm fine with exploring my own path. |
| Politics | Moderate. Much like in other aspects of my life, I don't like to attach myself to one specific party or group of policies affiliated with that party (to this day I still don't understand how most conservatives can be against both gun control and abortion while most liberals are for them. It seems counterproductive.) I don't like to dabble much in politics. However, I do love a debate, so I'm willing to discuss certain issues if I feel that I've kept up on them. |
Education
| Serena Hills School. Chicago Heights, IL. | 1985-1991 | Where it all began. It wasn't the best grade school in the world, but it wasn't the worst. More than a decade-and-a-half later, I guess that I don't really have any complaints |
| Parker Jr. High School. Flossmoor, IL. | 1991-1994 | Due to some really strange zoning statutes, my house was situated in the school district of the neighboring town of Flossmoor. Luckily for me, Parker is one of the more well-funded schools in the south suburbs. I still find it strange that I took home economics and wood shop in junior high while they aren't even offered at my high school. |
| Marian Catholic High School. Chicago Heights, IL. | 1994-1998 | Because of their high educational standards and nationally-renowned band program (not to mention that a referendum to fund the local public school had failed), my parents scrounged up enough money to send me here. The four years of mandatory Catholic religion classes were a small price to pay for a pretty good college-prep education. |
| University of Illinois. Urbana/Champaign, IL. | 1998-1999 | My first attempt at college life. I made a lot of friends, experienced my first sense of freedom away from home, participated in theatre and improv, and discovered that I hated electrical engineering. Unfortunately, a lack of scholarship funds combined with a lack of motivation and direction caused me to drop out and move back north. |
| Parkland College. Champaign, IL. | 2002-2005 | Since Tom needed a roommate while he finished his masters and I wanted to get out of the south suburbs, I moved back to Champaign. Six months later, I enrolled at Parkland with the notion that I would get a theatre degree. My teachers convinced me that I had a knack for reading and writing about texts, so I obtained my associates degree in English Literature. At the very least, I got to circumvent taking a Biology course by taking Forensic Science. |
| Illinois State University. Normal, IL. | 2005-present | Here I am getting my degrees in English and Math Education. Will I succeed this time around? Stay tuned in the next two years to find out! |
Interests
| Activities | theatre, reading, watching T.V., sleeping, video games, anime, karaoke, fantasy sports, playing capture the flag on the quad (Monday and Wednesday nights 10-midnight, all are invited!) |
| Music | I'm pretty diverse in my tastes. As long as it isn't heavy-twangy country or hardcore rap/hip-hop, I'm open to most genres. Currently, the groups that I'm frequently listening to: Flogging Molly; Dropkick Murphys; Chicago; Rolling Stones; Earth, Wind, and Fire; the Avenue Q soundtrack; and Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band, among others. |
| T.V shows | I don't get as much time to watch T.V. than I used to (probably a good thing), but I do set aside some time to keep up on shows until I can afford a Tivo. Current shows: The Simpsons, Family Guy, House, The Boondocks, TNA Impact, Robot Chicken, South Park, Mind of Mencia. Shows I occasionally follow: Scrubs, ER, Mythbusters. Past Shows: Arrested Development (sadly), M*A*S*H, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Firefly (also sadly) |
| Anime | Aside from Cartoon Network, I've fallen behind on my anime watching. One day, I will have the money to get back into the flow. Recent favorites: Samurai Champloo, Naruto, Excel Saga, Inuyasha, Trigun. Past favorites: Neon Genesis Evangelion, The Slayers, The Vision of Escaflowne, Cowboy Bebop, Rurouni Kenshin |
| Literature | For the sake of time and effort, I'm throwing in everything that has to do with the printed word. Favorite books: Orson Scott Card's Ender's Game (I've written a college paper on it), Douglas Adams's Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (ditto), Mick Foley's Have a Nice Day!: A Tale of Blood and Sweatsocks, and Terry Goodkind's Sword of Truth series. Favorite literary-type authors: T.S. Eliot, Tennessee Williams, Allen Ginsberg, William Carlos Williams, Oscar Wilde, Flannery O'Connor |
| The Big Four | Monkeys, Ninjas, Pirates, and Zombies. If you present me any kind of media that includes any one (preferably a combination) of these elements, then I will be come as giddy as a schoolgirl at a giddy schoolgirl convention. Regardless of how good or bad the content is, these four things make anything great in my mind. |
