ILLINOIS STATE DANCE THEATRE
THEATRE PRACTICUM CREDIT
THE 102 or THE 302
OVERVIEW
Theatre Practicum provides opportunities for
theatre students to receive credit while developing their talents and skills.
Practicum also provides opportunities for non majors to learn more about theatre by
actively participating in its production.
APPLICATIONS TO ISDT
As dancers/performers with Illinois State Dance
Theatre, students are to enroll in 1 credit hour of either THE 102 or THE 302. THE
102 should be for Freshman and Sophomore students, while THE 302 offers the Jr or Sr level
students "senior hours."
EXPECTATIONS
Illinois State Dance Theatre students are
expected to perform and complete all work necessary for their assignment. Your ISDT
assignment can vary from an understudy role, to a cast member of specific pieces, to
choreographer. If you agree to work with your assigned choreographer(s) after the
ISDT audition, then you agree to perform all duties associated with the work such as
weekly rehearsals, rehearsals & performances in the theatre, and attending Company
Class each Friday from 10:30-noon to continue your training. In addition, all ISDT
members are required to be enrolled in at least one technique class each semester as
stated in their contract with ISDT.
GRADING
Illinois State Dance Theatre students are graded
primarily by their choreographers and faculty/staff supervisors. The Artistic
Director of ISDT will turn in the final grade for each student based upon the various
input provided to her by the above individuals. Stage Managers are also asked to
complete evaluation forms based on each student's work during the performance process.
And, finally, consistent attendance and progress technically in enrolled classes
and company class is factored in as well.
ARRANGING PRACTICUM CREDIT
You must successfully audition and be selected for ISDT - see Laurie Merriman with any questions.
You must register with the University for 1 credit hour of THE practicum.
You must go to Centennial East room C5 to sign up for Theatre Practicum by completing and submitting the "Practicum Information Card" indicating your assignment as Illinois State Dance Theatre. (SEE: Chad Lowell)
