Action 16A

Develop an East Gate Commons neighborhood within the Central District.

Baseline Information

  • To provide an even greater sense of a small-college environment, each district will create smaller areas called neighborhoods. Neighborhoods are the unifying force that reflects our campus values, image, identity, and pride. Each neighborhood will have adequate housing, dining, parking, technology, and other supporting services. All of these will be the result of long-term development based on the concepts in The Master Plan. Programming initiatives will focus on meeting the individual needs of our students, faculty, and staff by supporting the active pursuit of learning outside the classroom as described in Educating Illinois Action #71.

East Gate Commons contains: Felmley Hall; Felmley Annex; Planetarium; Moultan Hall; Julian Hall; Science Laboratory Building; Greenhouse; Honors Program; and Second Science Laboratory Building (new).
