Action 43F

Create an attractive green space along the extension of Cottage Avenue north through university property.

 

Baseline Information

  • As the Town of Normal moves through its long-range development plan, Cottage Avenue will be extended through the Gregory Street property. This extension is necessary in order to alleviate traffic congestion and offer a more convenient route from Gregory Street to Raab Road. Illinois State University benefits from this extension, as the value of the property will increase due to increased traffic flow in the area.

  1. Action Step 01:  Meet with engineering staff of the Town of Normal to understand timeframes and criteria to be used in extending Cottage Avenue through the University’s Gregory Street property.

  2. Action Step 02:  Contract with an engineering firm to survey proposed alignment for extension of Cottage Avenue and develop a landscape plan for green space for right-of-way.

  3. Action Step 03:  Work with Town staff to include Cottage Avenue extension in Town's Five-Year Street Plan.

  4. Action Step 04:  Share Town’s Five-Year Street Plan with the Capital Planning and Budget Team.
