Action 47

Work with the Town of Normal to carefully consider extension of the Constitution Trail and its location in relation to Illinois State University.

 

Baseline Information

  • Accessibility remains at the University’s forefront as migration of campus parking moves from the core to the periphery of campus. It is our shared responsibility to ensure that unobstructed travel patterns are efficient, aesthetic, and promote opportunities for university-community interactions. This will include working closely with the Town of Normal and aligning the Constitution Trail through or adjacent to university boundaries, increasing university-community interactions.

Progress will be measured based upon the completion of the following action steps.

  1. Action Step 01:  Meet with Public Works staff of the Town of Normal to explore ideas for extending the Constitution trail through campus.

  2. Action Step 02:  Prepare a report on what would be involved in extending the Constitution Trail through the campus. Include drawings, specifications, cost estimates and descriptions of what may be involved.

  3. Action Step 03:  Identify potential sources of any required funding.

  4. Action Step 04:  Present report to the Capital Planning and Budget Team.

  5. Action Step 05:  Present report to the President’s Cabinet.
