Baseline Information

• Illinois State University is currently upgrading small animal care facilities to meet both long-term Federal standards and faculty research needs. These guidelines include animal feed and bedding storage.

1. Action Step 01:  Develop space program for the Animal Care Facility.

2. Action Step 02:  Explore options for alternative programs.

3. Action Step 03:  Work with associate deans and other end users of the space to finalize preparation of the plans for upgrading the University’s current Animal Care Facility in Felmley Hall.

4. Action Step 04:  Prepare and submit proposal to the National Science Foundation for funding of the required improvements.

5. Action Step 05:  Identify and earmark University matching funds required by the National Science Foundation.

6. Action Step 06:  Plan for handling of research animals during the period of construction.

7. Action Step 07:  Get approval for the project.

8. Action Step 08:  Advertise for and select architectural consultants for design of project.

9. Action Step 09:  Begin design.

10. Action Step 10:  Complete schematic design (25%).

11. Action Step 11:  Complete design development (50%).

12. Action Step 12:  Complete construction documents (75%).

13. Action Step 13:  Bid the project.

14. Action Step 14:  Award the project.

15. Action Step 15:  Mobilize and begin construction.

16. Action Step 16:  Track construction through web site updates.

17. Action Step 17:  Complete construction.

18. Action Step 18:  Move in.
