Find a more attractive and centrally located facility for the Honors Program.

 

Baseline Information

  • Located at 300 North Street on the east campus of Illinois State University, the current honors facility is 1,566 square feet. The facility contains eight offices and a conference room.

    The Honors Program at Illinois State is designed to provide enriching educational opportunities for academically talented students. Excellent students committed to their own personal development and to rewarding professional careers find that their Illinois State honors education prepares them well for professional schools, graduate schools, and for satisfying employment after they graduate.

    Honors students enjoy the benefits of a small college in the rich context of a large multipurpose university. The University offers them special courses, taught by the finest professors; close personal advisement by Honors Program advisors; unique opportunities for undergraduate research with world-class faculty scholars; and special living accommodations which bring them into close acquaintance with other honors students in academic and social programs. Successful graduates of the Honors Program attend top law schools, medical schools, and graduate schools; and obtain outstanding employment with national corporations, both within Illinois and in other states.

  1. Action Step 01:  Meet with Honors Program staff to follow up on previous discussions regarding finding a better location for the programs and activities.

  2. Action Step 02:  Identify potential options to provide a better location for the Honors Program. Explore benefits to each identified option.

  3. Action Step 03:  Determine the best option for relocating the Honors Program. Determine the costs and timing of the recommended location.

  4. Action Step 04:  Prepare a recommendation to the University Space Committee comprised of the President and Vice Presidents.

  5. Action Step 05:  Get approval for the project.

  6. Action Step 06:  Advertise for and select architectural consultants for design of project.

  7. Action Step 07:  Begin design.

  8. Action Step 08:  Complete schematic design (25%).

  9. Action Step 09:  Complete design development (50%).

  10. Action Step 10:  Complete construction documents (75%).

  11. Action Step 11:  Bid the project.

  12. Action Step 12:  Award the project.

  13. Action Step 13:  Mobilize and begin construction.

  14. Action Step 14:  Track construction through web site updates.

  15. Action Step 15:  Complete construction.

  16. Action Step 16:  Move in.
