Create a new Illinois State University Welcoming Center.
 

Baseline Information
  • The Welcoming Center will be constructed at a prominent location that will be easily accessible and visible by campus visitors. A Welcoming Center offers an opportunity to more effectively communicate the University’s values, image, and pride to alumni, guests, and friends of the University. Location options are currently being discussed.

  1. Action Step 01:  Collect ideas and requirements of a Welcoming Center.

  2. Action Step 02:  Discuss various visions and options for the Center and select a single model to pursue through preplanning.

  3. Action Step 03:  Prepare a Scope Statement for a Welcoming Center that includes an outline of required spaces, units or programs to be housed in the Center, along with an estimated construction budget.

  4. Action Step 04:  Present the Scope Statement and preplanning material for the Welcoming Center to the Capital Planning and Budget Team.

  5. Action Step 05:  Share the Scope Statement and preplanning material with the President’s Cabinet.

  6. Action Step 06:  Get approval for the project.

  7. Action Step 07:  Advertise for and select architectural consultants for design of project.

  8. Action Step 08:  Begin design.

  9. Action Step 09:  Complete schematic design (25%).

  10. Action Step 10:  Complete design development (50%).

  11. Action Step 11:  Complete construction documents (75%).

  12. Action Step 12:  Bid the project.

  13. Action Step 13:  Award the project.

  14. Action Step 14:  Mobilize and begin construction.

  15. Action Step 15:  Track construction through web site updates.

  16. Action Step 16:  Complete construction.

  17. Action Step 17:  Move in.
