Start planning efforts to bring adequate utilities and services to the Gregory Street property.

Baseline Information

• The Gregory Street Property resides on a 250-acre area which currently maintains crop production and three instructional laboratories – the Crops of the World Demonstration Plot, the Horticulture Green House and Teaching/Demonstration Gardens, and the Aquaculture Facility. Recently, Illinois State University acquired land near Lexington, Illinois in order to relocate certain activities, such as all operations involving large animals. With relocation of these activities, the remainder of the Gregory Street property is being preserved in anticipation of future University development and expansion.

1. Action Step 01:  Decommissioning – Conduct a study to identify all of the elements required to properly decommission the Gregory Street Property including removal or demolition of all unneeded structures, utility lines and site hazards.

2. Action Step 02:  Prepare a report outlining the required steps of decommissioning, the costs, their sequence and timing and identify the appropriate source of funding.

3. Action Step 03:  Review Decommissioning Plan with Capital Planning and Budget Team.

4. Action Step 04:  Review Decommissioning Plan with the President’s Cabinet and obtain approval to proceed into implementation.

5. Action Step 05:  Meet with the Town of Normal’s Public Works Staff to explore future extension of utilities and streets through the property.
