Maintain and enhance the University's Ecological Park.

Baseline Information

• The University established the Ecological Park in 1970 as a semi-natural area to illustrate basic ecological relationships essential for relevant outdoor interpretation and to provide a place for aesthetic appreciation of nature. This park will be maintained and enhanced because it provides three acres of green space with more than 60 species of trees, which helps to reinforce the small-college experience.

1. Action Step 01:  Investigate the current uses and past history of the Ecological Park. Identify interested parties.

2. Action Step 02:  Meet with interested parties to discuss what may be needed to enhance the Park.

3. Action Step 03:  Develop a description of the requested improvements, including the costs associated with each improvement and the benefits to the university.

4. Action Step 04:  Prioritize the requested improvements and identify appropriate source of funding of the improvements.

5. Action Step 05:  Prepare an estimate of the annual operating expenses required to properly maintain the Ecological Park once improvements are complete.

6. Action Step 06:  Share improvements and cost estimates with the Capital Planning and Budget Team.

7. Action Step 07:  Develop maintenance team responsible for this work.
