Mandatory Ethics Training

State of Illinois Ethics training is mandatory for all full-time emplyees and graduate assistants at Illinois State University. Student workers are also required to complete a hard copy version of ethics training if they have not already done so.

Blackboard Problems?

Most Blackboard problems can be resolved by installing the latest version of Java, clearing your browser cache, and making sure you accept all Java security certificates.

P2P is blocked on campus

Peer-to-peer (P2P) is blocked in residence halls, over wireless, and on iSpot Ethernet ports. Exceptions are available if you have a legitimate need. Read about the P2P block.

Work Around Firefox WebVPN Login Problems

After logging in to WebVPN with Firefox, you may get a blank, white page. Read these instructions to work around the problem.

.DOCX is the New Standard on Campus

The Office 2007/2008 file formats (docx, xlsx, and pptx) are the new standards on campus. If you use an older version of Microsoft Office, we recommend installing either the Compatibility Pack for Windows or the XML Converter for Mac.

Set Up a Preferred Name

Decide how your name should appear in online and printed university directories. Display your middle name, middle initial, a different first name, or another preference.

iPhone Exchange Update

We recommend all iPhone Exchange users sync calendar and mail (instead of calendar only) because meeting invitations are delivered as emails. The Exchange instructions for iPhone now reflect this recommendation.

Wireless Changes Complete

Wireless changes are now complete on campus. Students, faculty, and staff should connect to "isunet;" visitors to the University can log in to "isu-guest;" and anyone can access "isu-public" in Milner Library. Read about the changes to wireless.
