The Illinois State University Police Department is one of the most progressive police departments, not only within Illinois but throughout the nation. The department has been recognized by the Police Foundation, Police Executive Research Forum, Police Training Institute, International Association of Women Police, and Russian Police University for its professionalism.

The department also strives to be a microcosm of the community it serves and has had great success during the last 24 years recruiting minorities, women, and university graduates to its ranks. Outreach is our “hallmark,” with numerous programs being offered by University Police to enhance both a sense of understanding and community. The department also requires ongoing training of its officers and staff in cultural diversity, intercultural, gender, and nonverbal communications.

The Illinois State University Police Department is a progressive, approachable, proactive law enforcement agency. Most of the officers were themselves university students, which enhances interpersonal communication between students and police.

A significant amount of energy is directed toward order maintenance and service-oriented activities. Numerous crime prevention programs are offered on a regular basis. The focal point is, and always will be, reducing the vulnerability from crime of students, faculty, and staff, as well as visitors of this great university. We would also encourage you to return to our home page often to check out new information being posted. The web address is http:www.ilstu.edu/depts/police/ .
